and hip-hop gems drizzled with funk and brimming with
Solemusic’s definition of soul.
Some of this collection’s highlights
include “Funkatuda,” a latin influenced beats track from DJ
Spinna, one of the world’s most respected hip-hop
producers. This track originally featured on the b-side to
Spinna’s first house track, released on Solemusic’s more
tracky House imprint Tronicsole.
Restless Soul (aka Phil Asher and Luke McCarty)
also feature with a remix of an unreleased track by New York
vocalist Lisa Shaw. Lisa Shaw has also featured on
labels such as Naked Music and with artists such as
Rae & Christian (Grand Central) and Q-Burns Abstract
Message (Eighth Dimension).
'Emancipation' is a perfect example of the black electronic
soul that Ashley Beedle and Marc Woolford have
been producing for the past decade as the Black Science
Orchestra. Jigmasta and Beyond Real rapper,
Kriminul, features on this exclusive Guiro track,
'Rhythm Revolution'.
Left-of-centre label Fenetik provide the Pablo
track by Michael Hunter which is a disco/funk influenced,
downtempo dance record that received heavy support from the
likes of such influential UK and European DJ’s as Ashley
Beedle, Gilles Peterson, Mark Rae, Jazzanova, Rainer
Truby and Ben Wilcox.
