The music of Tonehenge is best described
as Crossover: Pop meets Electronic with World music and Rave
influences. Tonehenge has been playing raves, parties and
events for the last couple of years and are now releasing
their self-titled, first album. As the electronic scene moves
toward live acts, Tonehenge's compelling vocals, strings and
catchy rhythms, combined with their dancers and imagery, are
at the edge of the next musical wave. They look forward to
touring soon. Mystic Pete aka Peter Ludwig
cellist, vocalist and producer of Tonehenge, has had an
unconventional musical career. He started playing cello in 3rd
grade, when his school offered free lessons and cello rental
for $6 per year. In his teens, he studied trance mediumship,
and was able to channel extraordinary voices who sang and
chanted. He moved on from channeling, but the voices stayed.
He has played in orchestras, accompanied poets such as Coleman
Barks and wailed at raves. His love of Trance, Dance and World
music, and his mastery of improvisation, led to the evolution
of Tonehenge.
Atom Smith, is a multi-talented producer, artist,
engineer, programmer, instrumentalist and vocalist with a
dynamic stage presence. His band, Brain Garden, has several
albums out and has enjoyed extensive live gigs on both coasts
(of the US). He founded the Hydraulic Clown Head (HcH)
Enterprizes label, with collaborator Brad Cooper, which
focuses on several styles of electronic music. Mystic Pete
credits Tonehenge's finished sound to Atom's fine producing
and engineering skills.
